Yufuin Floral Village

“YUFUIN FLORAL VILLAGE” is equipped with a ladies’ hotel that reproduces the cityscape of the Cotswolds in England, which is also famous as the shooting location for the movie “Harry Potter”. Once you step in, the stone cottages and gardens of cute animals spread out in front of you, making you feel like you’re lost in a fairy tale world. While interacting with animals such as “Owl Forest” heals the heart, the footbath unique to Yufuin heals the tiredness of traveling, and there are about 20 unique shops and cafes in the surrounding area.

Jigokudani

The “hells” (地獄, jigoku) of Beppu are seven spectacular hot springs for viewing rather than bathing. They are presented to visitors in a rather touristy fashion, which might not appeal to everybody. Five of the hells are located in the Kannawa district and two in the more remote Shibaseki district.

Day 1

Grilled chicken and minced-meat cutlet served with grilled fish, pickled vegetables, salad, miso soup and rice.

Originally served to Sumo wrestlers only, this hotpot is served with more ingredients than other nabemono.

Day 2

Pan-fried chicken glazed with teriyaki sauce, and served with salted kelp salad, seared salmon, grilled mackerel, rice, soup and dessert.

Thinly sliced beef cooked in a hotpot and dipped in raw, beaten eggs. Served with fried egg, side dish, local specialty, udon, salad, rice and miso soup.

Day 3

Deep fried seafood and vegetable fritters (smelt-whiting, shrimp, sweet potato, pumpkin, shiitake) served with rice, Japanese pickles and miso soup.

Beef cooked on an iron griddle and served with half sized grilled fish, seasonal side dish, salad, rice and udon.
